Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements (Black Berkey® Filter Replacement)
**Not available for sale in California or Iowa**
These filter elements are officially endorsed by New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. for use in Berkey® gravity-fed water systems.
- Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements are manufactured for New Millennium Concepts, Ltd., as economical replacement filters in lieu of Black Berkey® Elements for use in Berkey® gravity-fed water filter systems and other brands of gravity-fed water filter systems.
- This media formulation includes premium CTC 60 coconut shell carbon, which is activated in a controlled environment using high temperatures to develop millions of micropores. This process exponentially increases its surface area and absorption capabilities to enable the media to effectively absorb and trap a vast range of waterborne contaminants and impurities. The media mixture is then molded and sintered with precise compression and heat to fuse the media particles together into a dense, yet super porous filter for effective contaminant reduction with impressive water flow capabilities.
- Filter base is made from a super durable glass-filled polymer which is BPA free and NSF/FDA food contact compliant.
- Certified by NSF International for NSF/ANSI Standards 42 and 372. *NSF Certification and online listing PENDING. Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements are NSF certified (42 & 372) when included as a component in the complete gravity filter system. Because of the demand for replacement filters, we currently are not offering the filters in the gravity filter systems due to backlogged demand for replacement filters. Currently we are working to obtain the NSF certification for the filters themselves as a standalone component.
- These filters are designed to remove or reduce potentially harmful contaminants commonly found in municipal drinking water sources, while also producing great tasting water.
- Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filters contain a dense and compact matrix of millions of microscopic pores. These pores create a “tortuous path” that traps silt, sediment, colloids (cloudiness), rust, etc., as well as the non-dissolved varieties of herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals, etc., preventing them from passing through the pores in the filter wall—a process known as microfiltration. Additionally, the adsorption properties of the activated carbon adsorb and bind organic contaminants like volatile organic compounds (VOCs), man-made substances, compounds, and chemicals, such as perfluorinated “forever chemicals” (PFAS, PFOA, and PFOS), industrial and toxic chemicals (SOCs), disinfectants, pesticides, herbicides, pharmaceuticals, and chlorine; some inorganic elements and compounds are reduced, such as various heavy metals. This process is enhanced by extended contact time, where gravity gently draws water through the filter for prolonged media interaction and efficient contaminant reduction, resulting in removed or reduce contaminants and improved taste and odor of the filtered drinking water.
- The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ water filtration process removes or reduces a broad range of harmful contaminants while leaving oxygen and healthy mineral contents unchanged, which provides the filtered water with a spring-like freshness and wholesome taste. Because the natural filtration process leaves essential minerals like magnesium and calcium in the water, the filter does NOT alter the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Therefore, the TDS remains unchanged. For more information, read our article: “What a TDS Meter Can (and Can’t) Tell You”
- Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements have been tested by NABL, ISO 9000, ISO 17025 accredited third-party labs using EPA guidelines and ANSI/NSF protocols and standards.
- Includes: two Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements with two washers, two wing nuts, PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer, two vials of red food coloring and product instruction sheet.
- PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer stretches and adapts to most faucet heads and spigots to ensure a smoother, more efficient priming experience by giving you a sealed, leak-resistant connection when priming your filter. Priming is a necessary set-up step that uses running water from your faucet or spigot to flush process dust from the filters before their first use and also displaces air out of the elements’ pores—ensuring that water can flow freely. The priming process is recommended to be performed when using the filter for the first time or after a long period of not being used.
- Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements install in minutes within in the upper chamber of any Berkey® system or most other brands of similar gravity-fed systems.
- Filters are fully compatible for use with Berkey PF-2® Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements.
- We recommend replacing Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ Filter Elements every 2,750 gallons (5,500 per set of 2 elements). Elements may require replacement sooner based upon the quality of influent water.
- Re-cleanable during the life of the element.
- Elements come with a 1-year limited warranty.
- Each element measures approximately 9-1/2" x 2-1/2" overall, including stem.
- Box measures approximately 12" length, 5-1/4" wide, 2-3/4" in depth.
- Weight of the product box and all contents is approximately 33 oz. or 2.07 lbs

BEST FILTER EVER!
Posted by Debbie Kane Girl Of Peace on
I spent a couple of years researching the best water filtration system. The Berkey was hands down the best one I could find. I have been using my "Big Berkey" for over 2 years now, still swear by it and refer it to everyone I can! I love the peace of mind I get using 2 black filters and the additional 2 fluoride filters for optimum filtration! On a side note, I love the customer service that New Millennium Concepts provides before and AFTER the sale. The employees there are awesome

Win-Win-Win
Posted by Paul H. on
We recently moved into a new place near Winchester, Virginia where the water is quite "hard" (full of minerals). Rather than purchase a water softener unit (these dump way too much sodium into the local water table, as much as into your drinking water), I decided to take our Big Berkey (purchased around 1999) out of "moth balls". So, I ordered 2 of the Berkey "Black FIlters" and installed them about a month ago. They seem to be working perfectly, although I had some initial issues try to get them to "sweat".
I also ordered 2 of the fluoride removal filters (PF-2, I believe) since our water is city supplied and, hence, fluoridated. I had no issues with these filters as they installed well from the start. Again, it all seems to be working, as described.
If you are going to use a Berkey filter (either big or huge), then I highly recommend purchasing the sight glass spigot. This item removes the doubt as to how much purified water is left and, as a result, I have not had one instance of overfilling the purified water chamber and causing it to leak.
If you are going to place the Berkey on a counter, I would also highly recommend purchasing the Berkey base which is a stand that the unit sits on. It raises the unit about 5 or so inches and allows you to easily place either a glass or a cup or a coffee carafe under the spigot for filling.
The spigot and base are one time purchases, but they are worth the investment.
One cudo for Customer service. I was having some issues with un-purified water seeping into the lower chamber from the upper and I contacted customer service. It appeared that since I was only using two filters instead of the maximum of 4, the water was seeping through the plugs in the unused holes. Customer service (reps have been great) sent me two new plugs (mine were very old and that was probably why they were leaking) and I was "off to the races". -

Love our Berkey

We have had our Big Berkey for about 2 years and our small 'RV' Berkey for 6 months. They continually deliver great tasting water (water with no taste). Water that if just wet and refreshing.
Don't have one, better get one.
All their items are first class and are as advertised. -

Great filters!

We replaced our old white ceramic filters with the newer black Berkey filters. They work very quickly, and supply peace of mind that our water is thoroughly cleaned of a broad range of possible contaminants. We received the new filters within 2 days of ordering. Thank you for the great product and customer service.

The glue/base issue is over
Posted by Daniel H. on
The issue where the base was coming apart the filter has been resolved years ago. It was a bad batch that is long gone now.
These are still the best water purifiers on the market, going beyond just filtration. Don't listen to the internet hype based on old information! -
Awesome!
